Teaching and learning Commons

Toru Iiyoshi: The Teaching and Learning Commons is an example (and our latest work at the Carnegie Knowledge Media Lab) of what I referred in my statement as the “buffet style”/”demand-pull” approach to promoting use of MRT. In one sense, this is like building a global “knowledge banking network” system for the advancement of teaching and learning. We hope a community support system like this enables practitioners to flexibly deposit, withdraw, and transfer useful knowledge (including MRT and other resources) from one local context to another just like one can wire-transfer money in a local currency to someone’s account overseas to be withdrawn in another currency.

In the next few weeks, we will be adding a new feature called “My IdeaBank” which enables users of the T&L Commons to reflect on MRTs created by others and create and share them as annotated collections.
