Barry Fishman: In addition to the link to KNOW given just above, I think that tools such as Diver (Pea, http://diver.stanford.edu/ ) are beginning to enable the kind of classroom recording I envision. I’m referring both to the collaborative noticing features and live re-editing features of Diver (which I think are invaluable for “learning how to look,”) and also to an ability that was explored in early versions of Diver, to capture panoptic video of an entire classroom in one view, which could then later be re-focused on just particular parts of the classroom. Sites like “TeacherTube” ( http://www.teachertube.com/ ) demonstrate the plausibility of teachers creating and uploading video for others to use.
DIVER is a tool for authoring and sharing DIVES. A DIVE is an annotated perspective on any video record. Content can be captured by equipment ranging from basic consumer video cameras to specially built, high-resolution 360-degree panoramic cameras with a multi-microphone array.
